The Yacht

Tangle o’ the Isles” is a Beneteau First 32s5. She is a medium weight cruiser/racer built in 1988. She is just under 10m long, and weighs 4.5 tons.  She has been owned by Joey and Verna since 1998. Tangle is based in Oban, cruising and racing on the West of Scotland.  She has also cruised and raced extensively in Scandinavia and has overwintered there 5 times. She has ventured north of Tromso and East of Helsinki.

Her name comes from the chorus of a Scottish song, “The Road to the Isles”.

“….If it’s thinking in your inner heart that braggart’s in my step,
You’ve never smelled the tangle o’ the Isles…..” 

The poetic interpretation would be, “The smell of the sea”, which is what attracts the traveller to the West of Scotland.
